AI-Powered Document Processing in Logistics

bluDELTA helps logistics companies automate the processing of transport, delivery and invoice documents.

Initial Situation

Logistics companies process large volumes of different document types every day: bills of lading, delivery notes, invoices, customs documents and transport-related records arrive from different countries, locations and systems.

These documents vary significantly in structure, language and quality. At the same time, information must be captured quickly, assigned correctly and made available for operational workflows.

Despite a high level of digitalization, document processing in many areas remains heavily manual.

Document workflows become an operational bottleneck, when information is not available in a structured and system-ready format.

Challenge

As document volumes increase, so do complexity, manual effort and the risk of errors. Different document types, decentralized scanning workflows and international document structures further complicate consistent processing.

This becomes particularly critical where documents must be assigned clearly to tours, deliveries or specific operational workflows. Missing or inconsistent data leads to queries, delays and additional manual effort in downstream processes.

The challenge does not lie within the transport workflow itself, but in the structured processing of incoming documents and data.

Solution and Result

bluDELTA extends existing system environments with AI-supported document processing for logistics workflows. Documents are automatically identified, classified and relevant information is extracted in a structured way.

Within the customer project, tour IDs were identified automatically and documents assigned clearly to transport workflows. In addition, bluDELTA supports the separation of mixed document inputs as well as the structured processing of international invoice and transport documents.

The processed information is provided in a system-ready format for downstream workflows. This reduced manual verification and assignment effort while improving data quality and process stability.
